Vintage Bouquet

I took this picture of a French bead bouquet made by Fen Li for her site (www.beadflora.com). I wanted to add some vintage look to it because every time I looked at the bouquet, vintage kept coming to my mind. With layering and masking in Photoshop, this was accomplished.

Tree Trunk

This black and white photo was taken along the shore at Grant Park, Oak Creek, WI. How much I miss Wisconsin. What I liked about this photo is the dead tree trunk, which gave this picture a contrast and allowed the eyes to follow from the bottom of the pictures toward the top.

Lucky Flowers

I have neglected this blog for quite sometime now due to major life changing events, which couldn't have been better!

As I scouted through my old collections of photos, I came across a collection of photos where I was playing around with the lighting effects of an incandescent  flashlight and LED flashlight. I like how the LED lights impacted the white lucky flower.

The picture below is using a regular incandescent light. This flashlight was set to light the middle of the flower and the camera was set to spot metering.

A different angle of the flower with the same setting as above.

This last picture (below) was being lighted with LED lights. The LED lights added a hint of blue, but it does brighten up the object better than the incandescent light. Maybe it my eye sight, but the LED does seem to give the petals more of a whiteness, while the incandescent light gave it more of a yellow tint.

Cat

I took this in Hope, AR (December 2009). This was such a beautiful cat living around the farm. Allyson found this one and brought it to the farm.  This cat does look like Russian's blue cat, not sure.
It was close to sunset and there wasn't much lighting around the cabin, so I had to turn up the exposure to compensate for the lack of lighting.

Reflection

There was no mirror. There were actually two pigeons. This was taken in Rome by the Capitoline Hill.

Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi

This is the Bernini's Fountain, Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of Four Rivers - Danube, Rio della Plata, Ganges, Nile) at the Piazza Navona. This is the Baroque art of Gianlorenzo Bernini.

Night Ambience

The pictures below were taken in Cancun at Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach. What's cool about the picture of the coconut tree is the combination of motion and stillness.

Kirsten

Kirsten was reading a card for a game when I took this shot. The light was afternoon bright sun, which highlighted the face very well. The white shirt she wore also helped reflect the light to give more highlight on her face. I'm not a big fan of too much light, but in certain situation such as this, it highlights the main focus and fades out the background.

Aubrey

This picture of Aubrey is one of my favorites. Her gorgeous big eyes looking at you is what making this picture great.

Object of focus

This was taken at Boerner botantical garden in Hales Corner, Wisconsin (April 25, 2010). With this photo, I wanted to focus on the pollen of the blossoms. If I were to keep all the colors, then the eyes would have drifted away from the pollen. It was a windy day to take still photos, but with the help of my fiancé, this picture turned out better than I anticipated.

The picture below was taken at Grant park in Oak Creek, WI. I wanted to focus on the structure and pattern of the leaves.
